Colorado Dental Hygienists' Association is a constituent of the American Dental Hygienists' Association and contains six regional components throughout the state.

Mission / Aims

The mission of this Association is in agreement with the ADHA is to advance the art and science of dental hygiene by ensuring access to quality oral health care, increasing awareness of the cost effective benefits of prevention, promoting the highest standards of dental hygiene education, licensure, practice and research, and representing and promoting the interest of dental hygienists.

Principal activities

Offer Continuing Professional Education for dental hygienists, dentists and dental assistants.

Promote dental hygienists' development of their practices.

Inform the public of the role of dental hygienists in the health care industry.

Inform the public on habits appropriate to oral health.

Training / Licensing / Certification

Dental hygiene entry-level education is provided through colleges and universities. There are four institutions in Colorado offering degrees in dental hygiene: Colorado Northwestern Community College, Community College of Denver, Pueblo Community College, and University of Colorado. This Association and its components offer Continuing Professional Education that can help to meet the educational requirements for licensure renewal in many states.
