Description

The British Society of Gastroenterology is an organisation focused on the promotion of gastroenterology within the United Kingdom.

Member benefits

Members receive copies of all BSG Guidelines and other publications.

Members also receive its monthly journal, Gut.

Members hold an annual scientific conference attended by upwards of 2,000 delegates. The meetings consist of specialist symposia together with invited lectures and free papers and poster presentations.

Mission / Aims

The objectives of the organisation are the advancement of gastroentrology and the promotion of friendship amongst those who have a special interest in the subject.

Principal activities

Supporting the discovery of new knowledge leading to prevention, treatment and cure of digestive diseases.

Promote high quality patient care by defining best practice.

Ensure high quality training in gastroenterology and lead in the provision of CME for gastroenterologists and other health care workers in the field.

To develop an advocacy role for digestive health and for gastroenterology.

Provide a fraternity for members and associate members of the Society and promote mutual support.

Ensure that the organisation of the Society is best arranged to achieve the Society's goals and mission.
