Providing a coordinated structure for affiliated academies of medicine, the American Association of Physician Specialists, Inc. serves its member physicians with a broad range of professional, administrative, and educational functions. The American Association of Physician Specialists, Inc. is a national, not- for-profit organization representing thousands of physicians practicing in a variety of medical specialties. Founded in 1950 by Doctor E.O. Martin and incorporated in 1952, the American Association of Physician Specialists, Inc. has continued to expand its services and benefits to member physicians according to the changing needs of the industry. Distinct from other medical societies, the AAPS accepts qualified physicians into membership who have either an allopathic (M.D.) or osteopathic (D.O.) degree.
