The Society is established to promote the study and practice of orthodontics, to maintain and improve professional standards in orthodontics and to encourage research and education in orthodontics. The Society is dedicated to enhancing the health of the public by working towards the highest clinical and ethical standards.

Membership is open to all dentists registered with the General Dental Council of the UK and to all orthodontists practicing overseas. Membership is also open to orthodontic trading companies and orthodontic laboratories.
