Description
Founded in 1997, The Canadian Laser Aesthetic Surgery Society (CLASS) is a non-profit medical society incorporated under the federal laws of Canada.
CLASS is dedicated to excellence in cosmetic laser surgery. CLASS is active in the dissemination of information, education, preceptorship and promotion of quality in all forms of aesthetic laser surgery. CLASS was founded on the principle that the pursuit of excellence is best achieved by collaboration between medical specialties.
CLASS membership-driven organization whose directive is to promote quality in all forms of aesthetic laser surgery. CLASS counts among its members recognized leaders from the field of cosmetic laser surgery and physicians from a wide variety of specialty backgrounds.
CLASS promotes communication between medical specialties. CLASS was created to ensure that both members and their patients would benefit mutually from the Society’s mandate of continuing education, industry growth and the promotion of excellence.
Membership in CLASS is exclusive to physicians who have achieved a specialty certification in either Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, Otolaryngology, or Ophthalmology. As a patient, you will benefit from the dissemination of knowledge among these groups since CLASS provides its members with the unique opportunity to teach and learn from one another.
Physician membership in CLASS is your assurance as a patient that the laser practitioner you have chosen seeks continuously to improve his or her skill, competency and surgical technique. CLASS members are more than general practitioners: they are skilled medical specialists who have a special interest in cosmetic procedures.
CLASS members understand an important concept: when a cosmetic surgeon experiences a preventable complication a ripple effect ensues that can damage the public’s perception of aesthetic surgery. CLASS members know that everyone benefits if they, as laser surgeons, are vigilant in providing safe, competent, quality care.
Member benefits
Cross training between specialties: CLASS is a membership-driven, non-profit organization dedicated to safe and effective laser surgery practice. Recognized leaders in aesthetic laser surgery are members, regardless of their specialty.
Cross specialty membership allows cross-sharing of important ideas and techniques among various medical specialties. CLASS is a forum for you to teach and learn from other medical specialties.
Annual meeting: Member feedback from our annual meetings is always overwhelmingly positive. The CLASS educational symposium is held each year in Toronto.
Promotional activities: CLASS will promote, support and act as a resource for members. It will help differentiate members who are specialists from peripheral practitioners who are advertising and make clear to the public the benefits of choosing a CLASS member.
Website: The CLASS web site permits site visitors to search CLASS members according to city and offers each member their own detailed personal web page with photo free with their membership fee.
Hands on training: Organized, hands-on training courses for members. Members will be able to network easily with other members to gather information about new techniques and procedures. Our network of preceptors available for training purposes is unequalled.
Quality: When your competitor down the street has a preventable complication, it hurts your business: it raises awareness of the negative outcomes that are possible with any form of cosmetic surgery. Whenever anyone has a complication, overall public demand drops. It is best for you and for everyone if everyone performs good, safe, effective procedures. When everyone is operating at maximum quality, cosmetic surgery will become more commonplace and suitable for the majority.
Membership certificate: Each new member will receive a membership certificate and may purchase a wall plaque upon admission to the society.
Marketing: Demographics indicate that the first of the baby boomers recently turned 50. The sheer size of the cosmetic surgery market is poised to take off in absolute numbers, until 2011 when the largest group of boomers will turn 50. These patients are affluent and have appearance on their mind. There will be a dramatic surge in demand for all forms of aesthetic procedures. Because the public has certain expectations of laser surgeons, membership in CLASS will help promote your practice.
