Description

The Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists (NSCRT) regulates the practice of Respiratory Therapy by setting the standards for the profession and ensuring compliance with provincial acts and related laws. A college is not an educational facility but is a professional regulatory body. The college is governed by a Board of Directors and is managed by a Registrar who reports to the Board of Directors.
The Board consists of Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) elected by the membership and public members appointed by the government. Their role is to serve and protect the public interest. The board must also develop committees responsible for matters such as registration, practice standards, continuing competency, and complaints. Colleges are responsible for investigating complaints from the public and disciplining members for issues such as professional misconduct, professional incompetence, or incapacity.
