Description

The Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO) is the oldest organization of translators, conference interpreters, court interpreters and terminologists in Canada. Indeed, what was it in 1920 founded the Association of French Language Technology in Ottawa. Incorporated under letters patent of the Ontario government in 1921, the Association adopted its current name in 1962. She is also the first translators' association in the world whose members have legally licensed professional recognition. Indeed, the Law on Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario adopted in February 1989, the Ontario government granted a reserved title for certified members of ATIO. The primary objective of the Association is to promote a high level of competence in the fields of translation, conference interpreting, interpretation and legal terminology and to this end:
to give its members a collective voice;
promote the professional development of its members;
to refer to the standardized criteria for national recognition of the competence of translators, conference interpreters, court interpreters and terminologists.
