Member benefits
Membership in NCTA is open to individuals and companies engaged in translation and/or interpretation. Member benefits and activities include:
The possibility of obtaining more (or better) work through the NCTA Online and Telephone Referral Service. In a typical month, our online translator database is searched 80 times per business day.
Corporate members are listed on the Corporate and Institutional Members page on the NCTA website.
Members receive our quarterly journal, Translorial, with industry news and helpful tips, as well as information about upcoming events.
Email lists for constant communication and information sharing with colleagues.
Membership events, such as General Meetings, workshops, local ATA Certification exam sittings, and various social events throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, providing an excellent opportunity to network.

Mission / Aims
The Northern California Translators Association (NCTA) was founded in 1978 to assist translators and interpreters with the challenges they meet in their profession. NCTA has been serving the T&I community ever since through the active participation of its members.
NCTA addresses the needs and concerns of professional translators and interpreters, provides guidance to those entering the field, and furthers the profession in terms of standards and public recognition.
A professional association of translators and interpreters, NCTA has become a pillar of the foreign language industry in California.
With a membership of over 500 individuals, businesses, and institutions, NCTA not only serves the Northern California area, but also has members throughout North America and as far away as Italy, Chile, and Japan.
Principal activities
General meetings four times a year, workshops, social events.
All NCTA meetings are open to non-members and members alike.
NCTA also sponsors an annual American Translators Association certification workshop and two examination sittings per year.
Training / Licensing / Certification
NCTA offers several professional workshops every year and encourages members to become ATA-certified translators.
