This is a new and exciting era for sign language interpreters, and WASLI, as a membership-led organisation, is proud to be at the forefront of developments. Our website is designed to meet your needs for information and support, and to bring you up to date with news of what is happening in the sign language interpreting profession.

We recognise that the situation of sign language interpreters is very different from country to country, but by sharing the knowledge and experience you have, you will strengthen and sustain others and the profession. I encourage you to become involved, contribute your views - and become a member of WASLI.

Mission / Aims

Committed to developing the profession of sign language interpreting throughout the world.

Principal activities

Hosting conferences where interpreters can gather to share information, help develop networks of support and to consult on issues related to signed language interpreting. In addition the association works closely with the World Federation of the Deaf in order to address issues that affect Deaf communities and interpreters.

Training / Licensing / Certification

Conferences are held that provide opportunities for professional development. Our national interpreting organizations provide for the training and certification and countries that have certification are listed on our website.
