Description

The New Jersey Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics is your local voice on important pediatric health and practice management issues. The Chapter also serves as a resource for educational programs; advocates for the well-being of children's health in New Jersey; and serves as a network for pediatricians across the state. The relationship that AAP/NJ shares with the national AAP is formal but loose, and while much direction is taken from the national AAP, the New Jersey Chapter serves you directly.

Moreover, the Chapter is really what you make of it! There is great collegiality and plenty of room for active, interested pediatricians who want to make a difference in childrens' health on the state level.

Mission / Aims

Promote the interests of New Jersey pediatricians in the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Promote the pediatrician as the best to care for children.

Keep abreast of developments in the state's medical liability insurance crisis; developments specific to New Jersey's pediatricians.

Increase your knowledge of and participation in legislative and advocacy activities at a local level.

Increase involvement in the legislative arena to positively influence the quality of pediatric practice and the welfare of children in New Jersey.

Build and participate in coalitions with other organizations working toward improving children's health and well-being.

Principal activities

The Chapter is your voice on the state level. Every day the Chapter is visible among New Jersey state legislators, health care officials such as DHSS, and the media.

The Chapter puts together educational programs such as teleconferences, the School Health Conference, and the Annual Meeting.

The Chapter provides a resource for local pediatrics information, such as the latest on New Jersey immunization needs, how a particular law applies to you.

The Chapter provides a network of pediatricians.

The Chapter is the starting point to become involved with the national AAP, the country's strongest group of pediatricians working for the welfare of children.
