Description

The MATA is a non-profit organization mandated to govern the profession of Athletic Therapy in Manitoba. The MATA consists of 97 Certified Athletic Therapists, 124 certification candidates, as well as enfranchised members who are committed to the prevention and care of activity-related injuries, at all levels of sport and recreation, ranging from the grass roots level to the elite athlete, throughout Manitoba.
The MATA founded and developed the Athletic First Aider Program (AFAP) which is a progressive, educational program that provides individuals with a hands-on, practical program to increase their knowledge of the management of activity-related injuries. The AFAP is for individuals actively involved in sport, fitness, health, or recreational activities. Courses included within the AFAP are the Canadian Sport Safety Program, taping symposiums and basic emergency first aid.
The MATA also offers Athletic Therapy Services (ATS) throughout the year to provide on-site medical care to any requesting sport / recreational organization.
