Description

The Australian Hypnotherapists' Association's (AHA) early members were the pioneers of Hypnotherapy in Australia. The Association was formed in 1949, by a group of hypnotherapists who had already been in practice for many years. The AHA was created specifically for two reasons:

To support its members by supplying opportunities for exchanges of information, supervision and continuing education in the form of workshops and

To establish and elevate the status of the profession, and thus engender the respect and confidence of the community. The AHA founders recognised the importance of developing and maintaining uniform technical, clinical and ethical standards for hypnotherapists.

Member benefits

The AHA is a National progressive professional association that fulfils a critical role within the Australian hypnotherapy industry. The AHA is primarily concerned with supporting its members, with setting industry standards, with health fund rebates, with fair and reasonable insurance cover and with the formal recognition of hypnotherapy as a separate profession. The AHA is the "Voice of Hypnotherapists." It is an independent association that offers its members a unique combination of benefits. These benefits include:

Prestige of belonging to the AHA (which has been recognised as the authority on clinical hypnotherapy by Federal and State Governments as well as by private agencies).

Being part of the oldest and largest independent professional hypnotherapy association in Australia (Formed 1949, Registered 1957), and recognised nationally and internationally.

Mission / Aims

The AHA's aim, as an Association, is to provide continuing empirical leadership in the field of Clinical Hypnotherapy to practising Hypnotherapists throughout Australia.

Principal activities

The principal reason for the formation of the Australian Hypnotherapists' Association was to create a mechanism through which Australian professional hypnotherapists could discuss and study hypnosis, disseminate information about new developments in the field, conserve and transmit traditional approaches to hypnosis and hypno-therapy, share and examine their clinical experiences, investigate and assess the value of any new clinical applications for hypnosis that might become known.

Eligibility for admission as a Member is through an applicant's actual demonstrated clinical output, specific character and acquired technical knowledge.

Training / Licensing / Certification

Continuing Education Program that consists of seminars, workshops and discussion/support groups, as well as supervision sessions etc. The AHA also holds regular one day workshops in Qld, NSW, VIC. These workshops are attended by well known speakers and experts in their field.
